Benzino Biography:
Benzino real name is Raymond Leon Scott and was born July 18, 1965, in Boston, Massachusetts. Benzino parents are Mary Scot and Edward DeJesus.
Mary worked for the United States Postal Service until she retired in 1999. Benzino has two female siblings, Maureen (a doctor) and Anita ( a veterinarian).
Benzino has two sisters, Anita Scott Wilson, and Maureen Scott. The movie Wild Style inspired him to get involved with Hip Hop and Rap. During college, Benzino befriended Dave Mays, a Harvard graduate. Together they created the Hip Hop magazine, The Source. This would be the start of his illustrious career in the rap industry.
Benzino Music Career:
The Source magazine was founded in 1988 and covered Hip Hop music, politics, and culture. The magazine started in Benzino’s hometown in Boston, but in 1990 moved offices to New York City. Hoping to market the magazine in a bigger, more rap-oriented city.
Benzino was also a member of the rap group Almighty RSO, which broke through by winning an ICA B-Town Rap Battle in 1986. The group became known locally in Boston.
In 1994, they released their first Extended Play Revenge of Da Badd Boyz, the lead single of the album “One in The Chamba,” which was made after two youth killings by The Boston Police Department.

Benzino dated his “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” co-star Karlie Redd. Benzino has a son, Zino (born November 2015) with his ex-girlfriend Althea Heart. Benzino and Heart appeared on the reality television series “Marriage Boot Camp” from 2015 to 2016.
Althea was a cast member on “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” after she began dating Benzino, and he proposed to her on the show. After the couple had fight with two other cast members during a reunion special and Benzino later allegedly threatened one of the producers, they were fired from the show.
After Benzino and Heart split up, Althea filed a restraining order against Benzino.
