Kanukuntla Subhash Chandrabose is a lyricist and playback singer from India, who primarily works in Telugu films. He made his debut as a lyricist with the movie Taj Mahal in 1995, and since then, he has written lyrics for about 3600 songs in over 850 films during his career of over 25 years.
Chandrabose has received multiple awards, including two Nandi Awards, two Filmfare Awards, and three SIIMA Awards for his work as a lyricist. His song “Naatu Naatu” from the movie RRR (2022) won him an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award.
Chandrabose Biography:
Chandrabose was born in Challagariga village, located in the Warangal district of Andhra Pradesh (now Bhupalpally district in Telangana). He completed his high school education in the same village, and he is the youngest of four siblings.
His father worked as a primary school teacher. Chandrabose obtained a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad.
Initially, Chandrabose attempted to establish a career as a singer on Doordarshan but was unsuccessful. Consequently, he decided to switch his focus to lyric writing. His debut in the film industry was with the movie Taj Mahal (1995), directed by Muppalaneni Shiva. He received help from music director M. M. Srilekha for his first song in the film, “Manchu Kondalloni Chandramaa.”
Chandrabose married Suchitra, who is a choreographer in the Telugu film industry.
