As a teen, Rose went to Henderson High School, where he was a star on the basketball team.
After graduating, Charlie Rose enrolled at Duke University. Initially intending to pursue a pre-med degree, he changed course after an internship with North Carolina Senator B. Everett Jordan sparked his interest in politics. Charlie Rose graduated from Duke in 1964 with a BA in history, and later obtained a JD from the University’s School of Law in 1968.
