John Wick Chapter 4
In the movie “John Wick: Chapter 4,” the assassin played by Keanu Reeves has to fight for his freedom and seek justice for his dead dog. The franchise has maintained a high level of quality throughout all of its installments, and the fourth movie manages to surpass the action of the previous films. The film is almost three hours long and delivers an emotional ending that concludes this era of the John Wick franchise.
John Wick Chapter 3 Ending:
At the end of “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum,” John was shot off the New York Continental Hotel by his ally Winston Scott, who was forced to do so by the High Table. However, Winston knew that John was rescued and taken to safety by the Bowery King.
In “John Wick: Chapter 4,” John is still looking for redemption and wants to finally find peace instead of constantly having to kill to stay alive. But, the High Table is still after him, and their leader Marquis Vincent de Gramon has placed a bounty on his head. To clear his name and end the bounty, John must challenge Marquis’ place at the High Table.

John challenges Marquis to a duel with Winston as his second, and the battle is set to take place at Sacré-Cœur. Winston requests that if John wins, both he and the New York Continental will be reinstated.
When John arrives in Paris, Marquis raises the price on his head, and assassins throughout the city start hunting him down. John receives several wounds before he makes his way to the church, and he doesn’t believe he’ll make it to the top by sunrise. However, Koji appears and helps him reach his destination in time. John spares Mr. Nobody’s life, who goes to the church to watch the duel.
John Wick Chapter 4 Ending Explained:
The duel is arranged with a distance of thirty paces, and the opponents move ten paces closer after each shot, but neither of them dies during the fight. Despite multiple vicious rounds, Koji eventually fires and injures John, causing him to fall to the ground. Just as Koji is about to finish off John, Marquis intervenes, hoping to kill John himself. However, Marquis doesn’t realize that John hasn’t yet fired his gun. In a surprise move, John shoots and kills Marquis, winning the duel.
The Harbinger of the High Table, played by Clancy Brown, permits Winston to return as the concierge of the newly rebuilt Continental in New York. John is still gravely wounded and collapses on the steps of a church, appearing to be dead. His funeral is held in New York, where he is buried next to his wife, Helen (Bridget Moynahan). Both Winston and the Bowery King pay their respects at the funeral, while Koji goes to search for his daughter.
However, in a post-credits scene, it is revealed that John is not actually dead. He is seen being carried away by the Bowery King’s followers, who take him to an undisclosed location where he receives medical attention from the Elder (Saïd Taghmaoui), a mysterious figure who has previously appeared in the franchise. The Elder tells John that he owes him a favor, and John replies that he needs to return to the world he just left. The scene ends with John walking away, seemingly ready to continue his journey. This sets up the potential for a fifth installment in the franchise.
After the credits, a scene in the movie reveals that Caine is searching for his daughter. However, Akira interrupts their reunion by threatening them with a knife, indicating that she still seeks revenge and might face off against Caine in the future. Although a fifth installment in the John Wick franchise has been approved, director Chad Stahelski and actor Keanu Reeves are still considering their options. Meanwhile, Reeves, Lance Reddick, and Ian McShane are set to appear in the spinoff film Ballerina, which takes place between the third and fourth John Wick films. The movie features Ana de Armas as the lead character Rooney, who is on a mission for vengeance after her family is murdered. Len Wiseman directs the movie, which also stars Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Norman Reedus, and Catalina Sandino Moreno, but there is no confirmed release date yet.
